Things to know before visiting the Eiffel Tower

Where is the Eiffel Tower ?

It is located in the 7th arrondissement, in the southwestern part of the city. It has the Champ de Mars on one side and the Seine River on the other. The surrounding area of the Eiffel Tower is huge and it is a real pleasure to stroll around with the best view !

Where to stay ?

If you want to live in the heart of Paris and have the budget for it, we recommend booking a hotel near the Eiffel Tower. Most of them are stylish and of course offer amazing views of the Iron Lady. There is always the more affordable option of staying in a hostel near the Eiffel Tower. They offer equally beautiful views, but most of them are shared rooms or private rooms with shared bathroom.

When does the Eiffel Tower sparkle ?

Are you looking for the most magical moment with your loved ones ? The Eiffel Tower sparkle show is the most spectacular free show in Paris. It sparkles every evening after dusk, just for 5 minutes. So, hurry to capture it. It starts in the first minutes of each hour. It ended at 1am or 2am in the summer months. Depending on the season, the sun sets down at different hours. Check out when the sunset happens before you visit Paris !

5 Best Eiffel Tower shoto spots in Paris

1-Eiffel Tower from Place du Trocadéro

Trocadéro is the ultimate location for the perfect postcard Eiffel Tower shots. Just above the famous Trocadéro steps, you will find this platform where you can admire an amazing, full-length view of the Iron Lady. You can try different angles and poses while having the best backdrop. Although the Place du Trocadéro is quite large, we suggest you come as early as possible not only to avoid the crowds, but also to have the best light for more romantic shots. If you set your tripod like we did, always keep an eye on your belongings.

2-Eiffel Tower from Trocadéro Garden

The area around the Eiffel Tower is incredible. You can easily find very charming spots to capture the famous tower. The Trocadéro Garden is another nice option. It offers a different perspective, is less-crowded and has the benches that make the shots of the Eiffel Tower more impressive !

3-Eiffel Tower from Rue de l’Université

A lesser-known, but equally beautiful spot for Instagram Eiffel Tower photos is Rue de l’Université. This street is very charming and offers a stunning view of the Eiffel Tower. Nowadays it’s a quite popular street. So, you should try to get there in the early morning or late afternoon for empty photos. In the surrounding area, there are many Instagrammable cafés for delicious French meals and coffee.

4-Eiffel Tower from Pont d’Iéna

It is definitely our favorite and most romantic spot in Paris to enjoy the Eiffel Tower sparkle show at night. The Pont d’Iéna (bridge in French) is a bridge spanning the Seine River that connects the Trocadéro Garden with the Eiffel Tower and the park Champs de Mars.

5-Eiffel Tower from Beneath

It is the most obvious spot for Eiffel Tower photos. You can take beautiful shots of this iconic tower just by walking beneath the Eiffel Tower. We advise you to come early in the morning for less-crowded roads. On the road beneath the Eiffel Tower, you will find the souvenir photo with the “Old Press”. It’s almost free, as they only accept donations. These photos are the sweetest souvenir we have of Paris.
