Most Instagrammable places in Colmar

1-The Pink House (Maison dite “Au Pèlerin”)

Colmar is full of impressive photo spots. The Pink House is considered the most Instagrammable place in Colmar with its signature pink color and stunning Christmas decorations! Located on the Grand Rue, it leads to the next incredible photo spot, “Vieux-Pignon”. The best way to capture this pretty house is to shoot from a distance to include the Christmas tree in the frame. Another thing to be aware of is the fact that Colmar gets overcrowded during Christmas. So, you need to reach this famous spot as early as possible. Otherwise, you should expect hundreds of tourists, and will be quite a challenge to photograph this popular spot.

2-Au Vieux-Pignon

Just a few steps from the Pink House, you will find on your right the cutest building in Colmar, the “Vieux-Pignon”. It is a souvenir shop whose facade is decorated with lots of teddy bears and other Christmas decorations! The whole square is an amazing place to create beautiful content. But, it is very crowded during the day. So, once again you should visit it early in the morning. If you’re visiting Colmar in December, make sure you are there at sunrise to have it all to yourself. Since the whole neighborhood is like something out of a fairytale, it is a good idea to play with the frames and find different angles to take your photos.

3-Quai de la Poissonnerie

Colmar is famous for its colorful half-timbered houses and canals. You will find the above in the picturesque area of Little Venice (Petite Venice in French). The most photogenic place in Little Venice is the “Quai de la Poissonnerie”. It is a pier where you will find some of the most wonderful photo spots in Colmar. Here are the best photo spots around the Quai de la Poissonnerie :

  • The Pink House with cute Christmas decorations (if you visit during Christmas time)
  • For local biscuits, Maison Alsacienne de Biscuiterie (a must-try)
  • 13 Rue de la Poissonnerie to capture these amazing full-color houses from a distance

4-Pont Saint Pierre

At Pont St Pierre, you will find some other amazing medieval houses across the Launch River. They look even more magical at Christmas with the beautiful ornaments. It is also the starting point of the flat-bottomed boats that you can take to explore Colmar. The tour lasts about half an hour. It is worth your time if you are lucky with the weather (depending on when you visit).

5-Saint Martin’s Church

Although St Martin’s Church is not the typical Instagrammable spot like the previous ones, we both think it is a charming spot to visit and capture. As you can see from the photos below, it has a beautiful tall Christmas tree full of teddies and ornaments. In case you won’t be visiting Colmar during the holidays, it is still worth it. It is the least crowded spot compared to the others. So, you can leave it as the last place you visit in Colmar. If you want to make your photos more attractive, you can easily use some props, like the umbrella we used!

Final Thoughts

We hope you now have all the information you need to create beautiful photos in this fairytale village. Whatever time you choose to visit it, you will love Colmar and its amazing corners. If you happen to visit at Christmas time, you will have a magical experience, as Colmar is one of the best Christmas destinations not only in France but also in Europe! Just make sure to have enough time to enjoy it to the fullest. If you can spare some extra time in Alsance we cannot recommend enough to add Strasbourg to your itinerary (Capital of Christmas).
