Seitan Limania beach : one of the best beaches on the island of Crete

Why Seitan Limania beach is a must-visit beach in Crete ?

Although the beach area is tiny, swimming in these waters is very comfortable due to the huge rock formations that limit the wind. They also offer perfect conditions for a calm swim. That’s why it is suitable for children. The turquoise color of the water makes this small beach irresistible. So, if you are an outdoor enthusiast, you should definitely add this beach to your Crete itinerary. As you can guess, you will find plenty of cliff jumping spots. Seitan Limania Beach is one of the most best beaches we have ever been in Greece. For this reason, if you have enough time on the island, we highly recommend taking a boat trip there to fully experience its beauty. We assure you that you will have an amazing time enjoying the turquoise waters.

How to get to Seitan Limania beach?

Seitan Limania beach is only accessible by car. It is located approximately 24 km from Chania. There is a parking lot which fills up very quickly, as the beach is crowded in July and August. From the parking lot, you have to walk along a narrow path until you reach the edge, where you will enjoy the magnificent view of the gorge and the endless blue. If you are planning to take a road trip through Crete, you can easily include it to your itinerary. For your day at Seitan Limania beach, we suggest you use comfortable shoes and clothes for hiking, because the walk down to the beach is not very easy. However, it is not dangerous, but you could hurt yourself without the right precautions. For this reason, if you have children with you, pay more attention. Since it is a remote beach, you should bring enough food and water with you.

The best time to go to Seitan Limania

Crete is the ultimate summer destination. But, keep in mind that in high season, the small beach of Seitan Limania is overcrowded during the day. Thus, the best time to visit is the low season (May to June and September to October) and the weekdays. If you plan to visit the island during the peak season, you can still have the beach to yourself early in the morning or at sunset. We do not recommend arriving at the beach after dark ! Under these conditions, it can be very tricky and dangerous to walk down or up the beach.

Facilities

As Seitan Limania is a secluded beach, here’re the facilities it provides :

  • No lifeguard
  • No sunbeds nor umbrellas
  • Car parking lot above the beach
  • No accommodation near the beach
  • No toilets, showers, changing rooms
  • A snack bar before you get to the beach called “Seitan Delivery” (you can even order a delivery
